Cedar Falls is filled with unique shops, locally owned restaurants and breweries, spas and 125+ miles of trails...perfect for your girlfriend getaway. It's a great time to catch up, dine out, enjoy the outdoors and sip a glass of wine.
Plan an entire weekend starting with a trip to Barn Happy for a cup of freshly-brewed coffee and a homemade pastry. There's plenty to find in their century old barn, remodeled as an Iowa gift shop and restaurant. Or, shop for an antique or something vintage in the loft of the barn.
Next, visit historic downtown Cedar Falls. You'll find one-of-a-kind shops like World's Window, The Cob Mercantile, The Nook and Vintage Iron. Sage and Basket of Daisies all provide inspiration for updating your home. The Downtown District even caters to the gals at Girls' Night Out event in May and October.
Maybe you and your friends enjoy being creative or learning a new craft together. If that's the case, Cedar Falls has several shops of interest like the Crazy to Quilt Shop. Most of the craft shops offer classes in a variety of mediums. Three Pines Farm offers artisan workshops and Cedar Valley Art & Wine provides the painting supplies and you supply the wine.
If you want to shop for antiques and collectibles, we have that too! Spend the day visiting a number of stores in the downtown district like Main Street Exchange. The Tea Cellar, one of Iowa's only loose leaf tea shops, offers a great place to sit, relax and enjoy the perfect cup of tea.
If being active is in your wheelhouse, there are plenty of trails to experience. The Cedar Valley Trails are fun no matter what the season… bike, hike, snowshoe, or cross country ski! If a water adventure is in your future, try kayaking or paddle boarding on Big Woods Lake or explore the Paddler’s Trail Loop in George Wyth State Park. There are fun indoor activities too, try your skill at Hurling Hatchets or Golf Lab located in the downtown district.
Spend a couple hours being pampered at a local spa before your evening out at local favorites such as Montage, Bar Winslow, the Stuffed Olive, or the Ragged Edge. Packed with charm, history and one-of-a-kind shops, you can spend the entire weekend in Cedar Falls!
