Best of the Best Iowa Burgers

For decades, the hamburger has been and continues to be the iconic American food, and when it's done right, there's no guessing why. It's a comfort food that people love to eat, so we continue to make burgers in all sizes and varieties. Iowans are no exception in the country's love for burgers and for the fourth year, they can vote on their favorite to be named “Iowa's Best Burger” in 2013.
Nearly every local restaurant has a hamburger on its menu. Which one do you order time after time because it never gets old? The Iowa Cattlemen's Association and the Iowa Beef Industry Council urge you to nominate your favorite in the statewide contest. The burgers with the most nominations will make the “Top Ten” list announced in late March. These finalists will receive a formal certificate and will be put to the test by the contest's judges to determine the big winner. The #1 burger will be announced the first week of May, just in time for Beef Month, and be named “Iowa's Best Burger” for a year.
To learn the rules and make a nomination, go to the Iowa Beef Industry Council's website and click on the top link in the left column. You can also print, fill out, and mail a form to Iowa’s Best Burger Contest, PO Box 451, Ames, Iowa 50010 or text BEEF to 313131. All nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013.
If you're a social media fan, LIKE the Iowa Beef Council on Facebook to keep tabs on the contest. Over 4,200 nominations were submitted last year for 212 restaurants. Nominate your favorite in the Cedar Valley to show off the great restaurants in Black Hawk County!
