You can feel it. Panther pride is in the air! Students will return to the University of Northern Iowa the week of August 13 and the campus will be humming with activity. We know it’s not just the students excited for the new year, but also their parents and siblings, the faculty and staff, as well as the community. There’s pride in the caliber of our students and pride for our award-winning university. Let’s show it!
Cheer
In September, the UNI-Dome will welcome back fans at their first home football game of the season. On September 9, 2023, the UNI Panthers will take on the Weber State Wildcats and we want to fill The Dome for the opener! You can order your tickets in advance, too. Visit https://unipanthers.com/ or call 319-273-4849.
Not a fan of football or just enjoy all sports, cheer on the women's softball, soccer and volleyball teams this fall. Later in the fall and spring semester, enjoy men's and women's basketball and track and field, men's wrestling, and women's swimming and diving. For schedules and tickets visit https://unipanthers.com.
Tailgate
Once students are settled in August, we encourage family and alumni to return and cheer on the UNI football team this fall. Part of the game-day experience includes tailgating with family and friends. It can be big or small, but be sure to review UNI’s policies HERE so you know where and when to tailgate.
Show it
Whether shopping, dining out, or tailgating, show your Panther pride! The UNI Book Store is full of purple and gold apparel and fan gear for him, her and the entire family. It’s conveniently located on 23rd Street next to campus. Or, if you’re traveling into Cedar Falls via Hudson Road, pull into the Cedar Falls Visitor Center Monday through Friday. We have small UNI gifts and Cedar Falls post cards and souvenirs. While you're here, visit with us about Cedar Falls and the best places to dine, shop and recreate.
Stay for awhile
During move-in week in August and throughout the fall, stay for awhile and get to know Cedar Falls. Dine and shop on College Hill and discover the shops in our historic downtown district. Downtown is filled with one-of-a-kind restaurants, unique shops and fun activities. Then, come back this fall and enjoy football games, breweries, and more than 100 miles of trails!
A warm welcome to Cedar Falls also means a comfortable place to overnight. Visit a Place to Stay to find out more hotel information.
