Officials from Cedar Falls and the University of Northern Iowa joined to kick off the Iowa High School Football Playoffs with a unique name change for a street. The newly named "Playoff Parkway" was officially unveiled by Cedar Falls Mayor Rob Green, Jennifer Pickar of Cedar Falls Tourism, UNI Athletic Director David Harris, and Executive Director Tom Keating of the Iowa High School Athletic Association, with the street sign placed along a section of the road outside the UNI-Dome. This location will serve as the kickoff point for the state championships this year.

This is the 47th anniversary of the Iowa High School Athletic Association's (IHSAA) Football Playoff Tournament being held at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls and the 52nd year of the event.

The event brings 55,000 spectators to Cedar Falls each year to watch the semi-final and final-round football playoffs. This is a special event for Cedar Falls each year, and we extend a heartfelt welcome to all players, spectators, and families.

Cedar Falls is setting a new standard in event hosting, from sports competitions to community organizations. We're proud to continue the long-standing tradition of hosting the IHSAA Playoffs. What better way to add to that tradition and show our gratitude to the IHSAA than dedicating a street to all the fans, players, coaches, and officials who have made such a large impact.
