Valentine's Day will be extra special this year for the Hansen family. Owners and operators of Hansen's Farm Fresh Dairy, Jay and Jeanne Hansen were awarded the Gary Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and will be recognized Thursday at their farm in Hudson, Iowa. The presentation will air live at 11:30 a.m. on two radio stations, WHO of Des Moines and WMT of Cedar Rapids. The award is given to a nominated family each month and is funded by the Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers in memory of former WHO broadcaster Gary Wergin.
A neighbor of the Hansens nominated the family for the award to recognize their positive impact on the community and their passion for sharing the story of agriculture. Those people in Cedar Falls and Waterloo who have visited the two outlet stores or the farm for tours know that this family works hard to produce the high quality dairy products they love. This award reaffirms what the Hansen's neighbors and customers already know—their commitment to a family legacy of fine dairy production that gives Iowa its good name.
