Things to Tell A Friend: Toast To Tourism!

To kick off the “Grand Opening!” of our blog we decided to highlight the best month of the year for us here at the visitors center…Tourism Month! In honor of Tourism Month the Cedar Falls Tourism and Visitors Bureau and the Waterloo Conventions and Visitors Bureau held their 8th annual Toast to Tourism Event on Thursday, May 17th. The event was held at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center and had over 125 guests in attendance all representing tourism in the Cedar Valley. The night started off with a half hour social and entertainment from Noah Mauer followed by an awards ceremony led by Kim Manning, Director of Cedar Falls Tourism and Visitors Bureau, and Aaron Buzza, Director of Waterloo Conventions and Visitors Bureau. The awards for the night included Hotel of the Year, Organization of the Year, Event of the Year, Attraction of the Year, and the Waterloo and Cedar Falls Friends of Tourism Awards. The award winners were as follows:
Hotel of the Year: The Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo
Organization of the Year: R.J. McElroy Trust
Event of the Year: Sturgis Falls Celebration!
Attraction of the Year: National Cattle Congress
Cedar Falls Friend of Tourism: Ward Stubbs, retired Director of Cedar Falls Human & Leisure Services Department
Waterloo Friend of Tourism: Tracey Godon, Director of UNI’s Overseas Recruitment Fair
The awards were handed out by the 2011 Toast to Tourism award winners. Thank you to all who have supported and advocated for Tourism in the Cedar Valley in the past year!
